Inspired By Family Design

As a family we were always decorating rooms, building things, and fixing them too. It was a regular thing for us to move furniture around, decorate rooms, and also build stuff. It was always a lot of fun and rewarding. For as long as we can remember we were always inspired by great design, and so was the family.

It All Started Here

When Marc was 16 years old he worked on his first construction site. His best friend Rob asked if he wanted to help install wood flooring, doors and architectural mouldings and millwork. He explained it paid $10/hr. and there was at least a week of work. Marc said yes! The house was in North Vancouver just west of Capilano road and it had a lot of work to be done. After getting involved he realized it wasn’t a straight forward installation either. There were inlay patterns in the floor and most of the walls in the house weren't square. Marc remembers it was very tedious, but he enjoyed the sense of accomplishment after each day of work.

Our Beginnings With Woodworking

Marc always had a knack for building things. As a kid, he was always outside building tree houses in the bushy areas of our neighbourhood. He excelled in woodworking and shop class throughout the school years growing up, showing great interest in creating unique pieces of furniture and cabinetry.

Image to Reality Contracting Was Born

In his early 20’s, Marc was looking to save up money to eventually purchase his first home so he decided to take side jobs on weekends. He started his own little part-time business and called it 'Fabbro Finishing & Flooring'. His Sister Shauna was a graphic designer and even did a logo and website for the business. During this time Marc learned the basics of how a business works, along with customer service and how to be attentive to details. After a few years of doing finishing and flooring, Marc evolved into more challenging home improvement projects. He did everything he could do to learn more about the home renovation business. He learned along side other top builders in North and West Vancouver doing home additions (adding floors to homes and expanding existing home footprints), building decks, basements, and high end kitchen and bathroom renovations. Marc even renovated his grandfathers bathroom from start to finish which involved converting the old layout into a more functional space for wheel chair excess-ability. This is where the journey of contractor began, and it involved a lot of learning and reading!

During this time Marc encountered a lot of great tradespeople - and some not so great ones too. Unfortunately, he found that there are contractors out there who were unprofessional, not detailed oriented, and disorganized. Fortunately, he had a mentor that taught him many things a great contractor should do, and those habits are still with the company today. His name was John Whipple. As a master carpenter / renovator his entire life, he knew construction and also understood how to run a business. His core belief: the customer was always number #1.
